Resveratrol VideosI’ve tried to compile some of the most interesting and informative media segments on resveratrol on this website. Here, you’ll find a short informational piece about resveratrol on 60 minutes and, also, a ABC News segment with reporter Barbara Walters. (Just click on the links to the left, and then press play to watch each video). Resveratrol Weight LossOne of the most exciting aspects of this red wine resveratrol molecule that all of the news segments discuss is its ability to help with weight loss. Part of the way resv works is by activating a powerful metabolic fat-burning gene called SIRT1. We all have this gene, but most of the time, it’s inactive. Usually, it would only be activated in a food scarcity situation, which heaven knows, most of us have never experienced. Basically, scientists discovered that people who take in fewer calories tend to live longer. It turns out, that this is thanks to this little gene: SIRT1 is part of a famine-related survival system. Back when we were cavemen (and food was scarce and nacho chips were few and far between!) this gene would self-activate in times of scarcity to help us use the fat we had stored for fuel, and to give us energy to hunt for new food. Resveratrol Anti-AgingMost of the extensive resveratrol research has been carried out with cell studies and small animals, but the implications of this research are mind-boggling, clearly showing a significant extension of life span. Sure, I’d like to live to be 90, but only if I can remain in good health. If adding a rezv (resveratrol) supplement to my diet can help me remain healthy as I grow older, by preventing the diseases associated with aging, then perhaps I’ll not only live for many years, but fill my years with living. |
